Playing For Success bats off to a good start!

Week 1 of our programme and pupils from Rectory Farm, Kingsley, Parklands and Eastfield Primary schools all joined us for three hours of fun and games.

Our focus was on getting to know each other which we did by playing the name game, associating an object and an action with the first letter of their names.

Then they were able to make a personalised name badge on our Apple Macbooks, this was by far the  most favourite activity of the session. They each had to put three things that they are interested in and a photo of themselves.

We then split the groups into two teams (blue & Yellow) which they will stay in for the remainder of the course.

After a break for snack each student chose an animal that represented their character and made a ‘Totem pole brick’ for their school poster. They had to colour and collage them and write the characteristics at the bottom.

We finished with a game of Tower Building in which they worked in pairs or threes and had seven pieces of A4 paper, scissors and Sellotape and had to build the tallest free standing tower and points were also given to the most inventive. As you can see we had some great ideas!

Finally the students were able to evaluate the session for us and themselves by thinking about what they had learnt, what they were proud of and what were the best bits of the session.
