Northamptonshire Study Centres
The DCFS, Football Foundation, Northamptonshire County Council and local sports clubs have established and developed first class Study Centres at the county’s top professional sports venues:
Saints Study Centre – Northampton Saints RFC
Steelbacks Study Centre – Northants Cricket Club & a soon to be opened satellite centre at Grendon Activity Centre
Diamonds Study Centre – Rushden and Diamonds FC, with a satellite centre at Corby’s Adrenaline Alley
Cobblers Study Centre – Northampton Town FC
Silverstone Study Centre – Silverstone Motorsport Circuit
The key programme delivered at the Study Centres is the highly successful ‘Playing for Success’ (PfS) initiative that uses the medium and environment of sport to raise standards in literacy, numeracy and ICT as well as self-esteem, and confidence. The Northampton Centres work with all schools in Northampton and some in Daventry whilst the Diamonds Centre provides support for East-Northants (Rushden, Kettering, Wellingborough and recently Corby).

Northamptonshire Study Centres harness the potential of cricket, rugby and football to increase the motivation and educational attainment of young people throughout our region.
Northamptonshire Study Centres are providing schools and community groups with the opportunity to work with young people through state of the art Study Centres at four of Northamptonshire’s top professional sports clubs. The Northamptonshire Study Centres consist of the Steelbacks Study Centre at Northamptonshire County Cricket Club, the Saints Study Centre at Northampton Saints Rugby Football Club. at the Diamonds Study Centre at Rushden and Diamonds Football Club and the Cobblers Study Centre at Northampton Town Football Club.

Playing for Success has gone from strength to strength over the last five years, and is continuing to make a significant impact on pupil’s education.
